Gayle Myers Weston, age 94 of Sherwood Oaks, formerly of Ross Twp. and North Ft. Myers, FL, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her children on Saturday, May 21, 2016. Beloved wife of 70 years to the late Harold “Buck” Weston. Loving mother of Tex Weston (Phyliss), Jo Bethea (Ray), Gary Weston (Bev), Cheryl Pattinson (Jim) and Kim Michaels (Russ). Gayle is survived by 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Buck and 3 grandchildren: Collin Weston, Sheila Weston and Damon Pattinson. Gayle was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on December 31, 1921 and graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1939. Following graduation she entered nursing school at Sewickley Valley Hospital in Sewickley, PA, during which time she met Buck, a WWII bomber pilot, whom she married in 1943. After the war Gayle worked as a registered nurse and for many years helped her husband in his real estate business, but her primary vocation was being mom to her five children. Gayle was a life-long member and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Sewickley Chapter 439, and for over fifty years was a member of the Highland Country Club. An avid Bridge player and golfer, Gayle had two hole-in-ones and was the Women’s Club Champion at Highland Country Club in 1967. She was a former member of the Hiland Presbyterian Church in Ross Township, PA, and later attended the Valencia Presbyterian Church in Valencia, PA and the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in North Fort Myers, FL. In keeping with Gayle’s wishes there will be no visitation. A private memorial service for the family will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Northwood Charitable Foundation, 9840 Old Perry Highway, Wexford, PA 15090, or to a charity of your choice.
