I had the privledge of working with Ellie when I taught at St. Bonaventure University, prior to my return to Pittsburgh. She was one happy and energetic woman. I admired her tenacity to approach each academic endeavor, be it in the classroom or committee leadership or scholarship, with passion and enjoyment. During her stay at St. Barnabus, Karen and I would visit her at her apartment for dinner. Our last visit was 3 weeks ago where the afternoon was spent sitting outdoors eating birthday cake, drinking lemonade and recalling people and places on family and (using her memory album) her beloved SBU. Dr. Eleanor English was extraordinary.
