Roy Willard Ott, age 91, of Richland Twp., Gibsonia on Monday, April 10, 2017. He was born May 4, 1925 in the North Side of Pgh., Pa. to John & Ida (Kraher) Ott.
While growing up he worked on the truck in his father's hauling business. He graduated early from Oliver High School to be drafted into the U. S. Army. Roy landed at Normandy on D-Day+3, serving as a medic in the 9th Infantry Division. He received a Purple Heart, a Cluster, a Bronze Star, and 5 Battle Stripes during World War II. After he returned from Europe, Roy married Elizabeth (Betty) Kruger on Sept. 4, 1948. They made their home in Gibsonia, Pa. where they hosted many picnics and family gatherings.
Roy made his living in the dental supply business. In 1960 he started a new business, Yessel & Ott Dental Supply Co., with his partner, George Yessel, which is now Ott Dental Supply Co. Roy was also a very active member and leader in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Gibsonia, Pa.
Roy is survived by his wife, Betty of Valencia, Pa.; 3 sons: Roy (Chip) & Faith Ott, Osage, Ia., Kenneth & Janet Ott of Acme, Pa., and Donald & Dawn Ott, Severn, Md. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, a sister, Wilma Blythe of Bellevue, Pa., a sister-in-law, Mary Kruger of Renfrew, Pa., and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers: George, Ray, and Walter (infant); and by 2 sisters: Viola (Honey) Parker and Clara Tredway.
Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc. 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 AM at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3832 Gibsonia Rd. Gibsonia, PA 15044. Rev. Anthony Schenck, officiating. Please meet at the church.
