Ronald E. Heckert, age 75, of Pine Twp., Gibsonia, died unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, November 23, 2016 at his home.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 19, 1941, he was the son of the late Edna Heckert.

Ron was a City of Pittsburgh Police Officer for 14 years and then worked for 20 years as a Tipstaff at the Allegheny County Courthouse.

He was a member of the Teamster’s Union Local 249 and the Fraternal Order of Police and had served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Surviving are his wife, Suzanne L. Kerr Heckert, who he married on July 29, 1972, four daughters, Jennifer Koget (John) of West Newton,  Megan McKernan (John) of Mars, Maureen Risdon (John) of Wexford and Katie Gazda (Steve) of Murrysville, and five grandchildren, Eion and Owen McKernan, Alexa and Jadyn Risdon and Abby Koget.

Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc. 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. A Blessing Service will be held on Monday at 10:30 AM at the funeral home with Fr. Kevin Fazio, pastor of St. Alphonsus Church, officiating. Memorials may be made to the VA Pgh.
