Chin Y. Chung, M.D., age 84, of Mars, formerly of Erie, died Thursday morning, October 6, 2016, at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Twp.

He was born in Seoul, South Korea on December 20, 1931.

Dr. Chung was a Pediatric Cardiologist at Hamot Medical Center in Erie and also operated a private practice.

He had served in the South Korean Army during the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Chung-Hee Lee Chung, who he married on September 10, 1959, three sons, Thomas Chung, DMD, and his wife, Sue in New Jersey, Michael Chung and his wife, Rana of Chicago, Ill., and William Chung, DDS & MD and his wife, Megan of Mars, a brother, Moon-Yong Chung in California and his grandchildren, Courtney, Tyler, Nicole, Christopher, Caroline and Catherine.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul and Du-Yong Chung.

Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Kilian Church, corner of Clark and Cherry Streets in Mars Boro on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Fr. Charles Bober, pastor, officiating. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
