William H. "Snaz" McCandless

William H. "Snaz" McCandless, age 88, of Harmony, formerly of Callery, passed away on Sunday afternoon, November 9, 2025 at his home.

Born in Mars, PA on November 14, 1936, he was the son of the late Wilbur H. and Bonnie Davidson McCandless.

He had served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He had been a member of the Mars Jaycees.

He had served as Mayor of Callery and was a Life Member and former fire chief of the Callery Volunteer Fire Department.

Snaz had been a plumber for Morehead Plumbing in Mars, had been a welder at Mine Safety and then worked at both Pfeifer Hardware in Mars and McCormick Hardware in Zelienople.

He was a member of Old Union Presbyterian Church and more recently was attending Grace Bible Church in Lancaster Twp.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol L. Mincer McCandless, who he married on December 30, 1959 and who died on September 16, 2016 and by his son, Jeffrey McCandless.

Surviving are a daughter, Marsha McCandless of Harmony, two sons, Bradley William McCandless (Darcie) of Evans City and Craig McCandless (Linda) of Slippery Rock, 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and a sister, Donna Decker of Harmony.

Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc. 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Wednesday from 4-7 PM. Services will follow at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Rev. Peter deVries and Rev.
