W. Donald Crummy

W. Donald Crummy, 90, of Glade Mills, Middlesex Township, Butler County, died Saturday night, April 10, 2021 at his home.

Born in Glade Mills, April 25, 1930, he was a son of the late Lyle J. Crummy and M. Elizabeth Truver Crummy.

He was a 1948 graduate of Mars High School. In 1952 Don graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Agricultural Economics. He returned to the family farm and operated the poultry business. In the mid 1960’s, he became the Credit Director for the United States Department of Agriculture for Southwestern Pennsylvania, serving 17 Counties, until his retirement in 1989. 

He was a lifelong member, and the longest continual member of Glade Run Presbyterian Church of Cooperstown, where he had been an Elder and Trustee and where for 25 years was the Jr.-Sr. High Youth Director.

Don was a founding member and volunteer with the South Butler Community Meals on Wheels. He is well known as the long time caretaker of the Glade Run Cemetery.

Don had a ready smile, a welcoming word, and a firm handshake for everyone he met. He encouraged many, and lived with a servant’s heart. 

His wife of 63 years, Virginia “VA” Lisman Crummy, preceded him in death on July 1, 2015.  His brother, L. John Crummy, also preceded him in death.

His brother, Norman G. Crummy (Agnes) of Perry Ohio, survives him.

Also surviving are two sons, William D. Crummy (Martha), of Richland Township, and David L. Crummy of Valencia (Kristen Curtain of Cranberry). He was the beloved grandfather of Matthew L. Crummy (Christy), Tyler W. Crummy (Lindsey), Ellen Crummy, and John Crummy. He also has five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Wednesday at the McDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME INC., 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. Burial will be private at Glade Run Cemetery, Middlesex Township.
