Tracey Cullen Obituary

Tracey Sponsler Cullen, age 54 of Bradfordwoods, PA, passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at her home.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA on June 6, 1966, she was the daughter of the late Samuel “Junior” and E. Marlene Hitt Sponsler, who lived in Cranberry Twp.

Mrs. Cullen was the Director of Planning for the Allegheny County Airport Authority at the time of her passing. She spent her professional career in the aviation and environmental planning fields in southwestern Pennsylvania and worked at the Southwestern PA Regional Planning Commission, Michael Baker Corp., and Rhea Environmental Engineers.

Among her many professional accomplishments, she was a Certified Planner (AICP) and a graduate of Leadership Pittsburgh. Tracey received her undergraduate degree from Chatham College and a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs.

Tracey cared deeply for her family and friends and was a big lover of animals.  She was passionate about the environment and instilled a deep love of reading in her children.  She was a kind and caring person who always put others before herself and found most joy in surrounding herself with her loved ones.

Surviving Tracey are her husband, Thomas J, and four children: Kathryn A. (27), Carolyn J. (22), Sean P. (19), and Eleanor R. (15).

The family will greet friends at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc. 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Tuesday from 1-4 PM. Closing prayers will be held at 4:00 PM at the funeral home.  A Green burial ceremony with Tracey’s ashes will be performed at the Mt Pleasant Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Warrendale at a later date.
