Thomas Huffman, Sr. Obituary

Thomas R. Huffman, Sr., age 80, of Gibsonia, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021.

Tom is survived by his wife, Susan, and his children, Thomas R. Huffman, Jr., and Lee S. Huffman (Bridgitte), his step-children, Natalie Harnich (Eric), Dean Gutch (Debbie) and Melissa Gutch of Frazier Twp. His ten grandchildren, Luke, Blake, Nicholas, Isaac, Courtney, Meaghan, Brianna, Braidyn, Bryn and Brooklyn will dearly miss their “Pap” and a brother, William Huffman of Allison Park.

As a master storyteller and warm and welcoming man, Tom made an impact on everyone he met. His source of light was his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whom he met through his late parents, Lawrence and Dulcey Heasley Huffman. He is survived by his brother, William of Allison Park and many nieces and nephews. Three siblings preceded him in death, Thelma Spirnock, Patricia Baker and Lawrence Huffman.

He was an active member of the North Park Baptist Church.

Tom had a successful basketball career at both Etna High School (Class of 1960) and Wichita State University. He then enjoyed 35 years of marriage to the former Lynda Widmaier, who preceded him in death.

Tom’s career involved mechanical engineering, drafting, and sales with United Engineering, WHEMCO and Weld Tooling. Tom was a car aficionado who enjoyed showing his 1974 Corvette and working at Advance Auto Sales post retirement.

As a lifetime Elk, Tom achieved the rank of both Exalted Ruler in Etna and Allegheny District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler. He was also given the Elk of the Year Award in 1990. Tom served in many capacities within the Elks but had a deep passion for serving and honoring our veterans.

Friends are invited to a Celebration of Tom’s life on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the North Park Baptist Church, 1600 Sample Road, Allison Park, PA 15101.
