Susan Grant Obituary

Susan Grant, 74, of Mars, Pennsylvania, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Dec. 9, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Known as both wise friend and loving servant, Susan exemplified the words of Matthew 22:37-39: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and your soul, and your mind… love your neighbor as yourself.”

Susan grew up with a heart for service and an enduring faith that guided her life. She loved helping others and made a career out of serving others, first as a teacher, then as a transition coordinator for the AIU, and finally as an adjunct professor at Slippery Rock University. She was always willing to open her home to anyone who required a home and love. Susan’s greatest joy was her family, whom she loved deeply and guided with wisdom and grace.

Despite numerous health battles lasting over 30 years, Susan lived through suffering with grace, joy, and perseverance; she faced every challenge with the same spirit that characterized her life—one of unwavering faith, boundless love, generosity, a determination to find the good in every situation, and her ability to build deep, life-changing relationships.

Susan was the organizer, the encourager, and the servant in every room she entered. From cutting a neighbor’s lawn to leading Girl Scout adventures, teaching others to bowl, sew, or bake, and loving others well, Susan gave of herself tirelessly and joyfully. Her life was like the yeast in the parable of Matthew 13:33—small yet transformative, quietly yet profoundly affecting those around her. Despite her health challenges, Susan’s love of Jesus, family, and friends remained steadfast. She lived with the conviction that her life was a reflection of God’s plan, and she embraced every moment with gratitude and faith.

Susan is survived by her beloved husband, Don Grant; her cherished children, Laura Beck (Steve) and Jennifer Leapline (Justin); her precious grandchildren, Owen, Lila, Grayson, Quest, Emery, Elanor, and Riker; her loved step-children Mary Grant and David Scott and a host of friends and neighbors whose lives she touched in profound ways.

A celebration of Susan’s life will be held in the spring details to come, where friends and family will gather to honor her remarkable legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Imani Christian Academy in Susan’s memory so that her spirit of generosity and love may continue to grow.

Susan’s love and faith were like the yeast that Jesus spoke of—a small but vital ingredient that transforms and sustains. Though her time on earth has ended, her impact remains, permeating the hearts and lives of all who knew her.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, we give thanks for the life of Susan, who lived your words so beautifully. Help us to carry her legacy forward, loving you and our neighbors with all our hearts. Amen.
