Shirley J. (Baldwin) Sturman

Shirley Sturman, age 91, of Mars, passed away peacefully at Concordia of Wexford on Wednesday afternoon, March 15, 2023, with her family by her side.  Shirley was admitted to Concordia where she was well taken care of after a fall in October of 2021.

In 2016, Shirley was diagnosed with dementia, throughout most of that decline she was able to enjoy staying in her own home with family next-door.  

Shirley was born on June 7, 1931 in Detroit Michigan, where she and her former husband, the late Richard Sturman (1930-2012) began their family, later moving to the North Hills where she lived for nearly 40 years. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Theodore Baldwin, her sister Patricia Baldwin Funk and her son, Kenneth John Sturman.

Shirley is survived by 5 of her children and spouses; Terry (Rick) Mastny, Mike (Beth) Sturman, Kate (Jim) Gorman, Todd (Cindy) Sturman, and Joey (Mike) Drutarosky, 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Shirley’s warm spirit and blue eyes will be remembered and missed by many. She touched so many lives beyond her family through working at Passavant Hospital Daycare for nearly 2 decades and her service in the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous, where she was a member for over 45 years.  Here, she quietly and humbly helped so many, likely without even knowing it. Shirley truly was a person that made the world a better place just by being in it.

Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc. 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Service will be held at the Mars United Presbyterian Church, 2332 Crowe Avenue, Mars, PA on Tuesday at 10:30 AM. Please meet at the church.
