Ruby Stewart Obituary

Ruby I. Stewart, age 89, of Middlesex Twp., Valencia, passed away on Saturday morning, May 30, 2026 at Harmony Hills in Wexford.

Born in Red Bank Twp., Armstrong County, PA on August 18, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Wallace B. and Margaret Young Shick.

Ruby had been a first grade teacher in Penn Hills School District, a fourth grade teacher at Fox Chapel School District and a second grade teacher at Mars School District. Teaching was her passion, formally or informally, and anyone who knew her benefitted from her wisdom and her humor which was readily infused into all her lessons!

She was a member of LifePointe Alliance Church and a former member of Dorseyville Alliance Church. At both places she was for decades actively involved in missions work and awareness, Awana children’s ministry, Alliance Women. She walked with hundreds of women through the difficulties of their lives, nurturing them, discipling them, encouraging them, challenging them, loving them.

Even more important to her than her church attendance was her relationship with Jesus, the One who bled and died to save her. Who picks Philippians 3:10 as a life verse?! Only a person who is completely dedicated to Jesus. And that she was.

The family describes her as soft-spoken, WOW, gracious, faithful, generous, compassionate, quirky, servant, missions-minded, giving, empathetic, hospitable, warm hearted, and a definite chocoholic.

She was the dedicated wife of the late Robert A. Stewart, her best friend, and was was often the recipient of his many pranks and jokes which brought out her love of laughter. They married on March 29,1958 and were married 63 years before he died on May 30, 2021.

Mother of Darnell Stewart Martino (Chris) of Baden and Dinita Feather (Tim) of Azerbaijan, Central Asia and the late Deanne J. Smith (son-in-law, Charles Smith of Allison Park), grandmother of Nicole Gibson (Darvell), Rachel Feather Halim (Ronald) and Lyndsay Feather Wimer (Joseph), great grandmother of Davion Gibson and Eleanor Wimer and sister of Ruth Pickett of Hamlet, N.C. and the late Carl Shick.
