R. Elaine Settlemire Obituary

R. Elaine Settlemire, age 97, of Mars, PA passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at St. John Specialty Care Center.

Born on December 12, 1924 in Mars, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clarence C. and Naomi (Boyd) Henry. She married the late G. Dale Settlemire on April 4, 1946.

She was a life member of Crestview Community Church in Callery, PA where she taught Sunday School and was involved in various activities throughout her lifetime. She graduated from Mars High School and from Business Training College in 1943. She was later employed by The Blaw-Knox Company in Pittsburgh.

Elaine was a Past Matron of Mars Chapter 271 Order of the Eastern Star for 63 years, then a member of Butler Chapter 45 O.E.S. Elaine was also active in the Advisory Board of Mars Assembly #124 Order of Rainbow for Girls where she also served as Mother Advisor in 1967. She also volunteered at St. John’s Lutheran Home for many years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to Europe, Hawaii, and many of the islands. She was especially known locally for her baking talents.

She is survived by a daughter, Toni K. Taylor of Pittsburgh, a son, Scott D. Settlemire of Seven Fields, PA, a dear daughter-in-law, Kathleen (Ross) Settlemire of Mars, PA; three grandsons, Richard (Sarah) Merdian, R. Grant Settlemire (Stephanie), and Eric M. Settlemire; also 6 great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters; and predeceased by a son Richard. D. Settlemire

Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc. 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Tuesday from 5-9 PM. A funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM in Crestview Community Church, 210 Kline Ave. Callery, PA, with Pastor Gregg Hartung, officiating. Please meet at the church.
