Mary Lou Schwenke Obituary

Mary Lou Schwenke, age 86, of Mars, passed on to be with Jesus, but also her dearly missed husband, Ron.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 13, 1938, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Anna Marie Aycknish McDade.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald W. Schwenke, Sr., who she married on November 19, 1952 and who died on March 29, 2013.

After raising her eight children, Mary Lou had worked as a cook at St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars for over 20 years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening (and canning tons of food), sewing, riding horses with her husband, and especially loved her huge family, who all loved her very much. She was an excellent teacher of all things needed in life and tried to live by the Golden Rule. Mary Lou was a member of Mars United Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her children, Ronald Schwenke, Jr. (Debora) of Mars, Keith Schwenke (Rita) of Evans City and Richard Schwenke (Renae) of Volant, Rhonda Sproat of Renfrew, LuAnn Sunday-Rogers of Prospect, Beverly Leasher (Rick) of Evans City and Kathy Walker (Jeff) of Butler, a niece who she raised as a daughter, Judy Mraz of McKeesport, 20 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren and her very special nieces and nephews, as well as her dear friends who she met at Penn Mar Plaza.

Also preceded in death by two grandsons, Clinton and Nicholas and by her siblings, James McDade, Shirley McDade, Rosie Cianflone and Thomas McDade.

Friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Service at Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at 3:00 PM. Rev. Brian Houser, pastor, officiating.
