Martin Gregory Smrek

Martin Gregory Smrek, age 73, of Cranberry Twp., formerly of Franklin Park, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Sherwood Oaks.

Born in Johnstown, PA on September 15, 1949, he was the son of the late John Charles and Viola Virginia Balcer Smrek.

He had served as an E-5 in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Martin had been the Credit Manager at Koppers, Inc. for 45 years.

He was a member of St. Kilian Church and was a very avid runner.

Surviving are his sister, Patricia Adams of Hillsboro, Ohio, his brother, Jeffry Smrek (Vin) of Mars and two nephews, Robert and Roy Adams.

Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc.  238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Kilian Church, 7076 Franklin Rd. Cranberry Twp., PA 16066 on Wednesday at 10:00 AM with Fr. Charles Bober, pastor, officiating. Please meet at the church. Military honors will follow the mass. Burial will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Kilian Food Pantry or Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh.
