Marlene Docherty Obituary

Marlene J. Docherty, age 91, of Saxonburg, passed away on Wednesday evening, April 26, 2023 at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 29, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Alva Henry and Mathilda Schmidt Bauer.  There were seven children in the family and she was the sixth of the seven, all deceased but the youngest, Lewis Bauer.

After graduation from Allegheny High School, Marlene worked as an executive secretary for H.J. Heinz.

She was married to Charles David Docherty for 70 years. He passed away on November 24, 2017.

They had four children, Richard (Diane), Scott (Amy), Kelly and Casey (Nicole). They were blessed with nine grandchildren, Bryan (Lori), Eric (Ingrid), Patrick, Darren (Ciara), Catlin (Brett), Brendan, Shawn (Courtney), Christa and Kayla (Pete), and blessed with 10 great grandchildren, Connor, Kadence, Garrett, Aubrey, Nolan, Nora, Charlie Lane, Caoimhe, Sophia and Rhett.

Charles and Marlene founded CID Associates, Inc. in Sarver, manufacturing steel buildings for industries. After their retirement operations continued with Scott and Casey running the company.

Charles and Marlene spent six months in Naples, FL and six months in Saxonburg. They visited Alaska, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, Austria and two trips to Bermuda along with two trips on the Paddle Wheeler Big Band Cruise down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico dancing the night away.

Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc. 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Sepulcher Church, 1304 E. Cruikshank Rd. Butler, PA 16002 on Tuesday at 10:00 AM.  Fr. Charles Bober, officiating. Please meet at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hampton Twp.  Memorials may be made to Holy Sepulcher Church or Holy Sepulcher School.  Directions and condolences available at  www.mafh@zoominternet.net.
