Marie "Pudgy" Koch Obituary

Marie "Pudgy" Edna Koch (Ruffalo) passed away peacefully on February 20, 2024, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at the age of 80. She was born on April 21, 1943, in Braddock, Pennsylvania, to the late Marie (Flynn) and Vincent Ruffalo.

Pudgy was a loving and caring Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Nonnie. Throughout her 80 years of life, she touched the lives of many, opening her home and heart to all. She was known for her kind and non-judgmental nature, never speaking ill of anyone. She was known as a second Mom to many. Her warm and welcoming personality earned her the love and respect of all who knew her.

In her career, Pudgy started as a caregiver at the Ladies G.A.R. Nursing Home in Swissvale, PA, and later worked in retail at Hills Department store in Bethel Park, PA. She found tremendous joy in her position at the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) in Warrendale, PA, where she eventually retired from in 2005.

Pudgy's hobbies included spending time with her family, cooking delicious meals, caring for animals, playing cards, shopping, and enjoying rides on her husband Gary's motorcycle. She was also known for feeding families of deer in her yard daily.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Gary Koch; her children Robert Koch (Jennifer Whitehead), Kathleen Koch, Jennifer Bernstein (Koch), Alyson Kovac (Koch) (Eric Kovac); her grandchildren Anthony Guidi, Krystal Koch, Angelina Kovac Kline (Brandon), Bryan Koch (Allison), Jessica Bernstein, Maximus Kovac, Holly Koch, Mason Kovac, Joshua Bernstein, and Georgia Kovac; great-grandchildren Talon & Emmett Kline, Sage Burkett, Sidney Guidi, and an expecting baby girl, Piper Koch.

Also survived by her brother Edward "Corky" Ruffolo, sisters Patricia Ruffalo and Kathleen Chop (Ruffalo); her dog Stella; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other family members.

Pudgy was preceded in death by her mother Marie Ruffalo, father Vincent Ruffalo, brothers Frank and William Ruffalo, sister Theresa Conti (Ruffalo) and her Aunt Edna Flynn.

Her Family will announce a Celebration of Life Memorial Picnic for Pudgy to be held this spring/summer.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Judes in memory of Marie "Pudgy" Koch.
