Madeleine Austin Flannery Samarco

Madeleine Flannery Samarco, age 102, of St. Barnabas, Gibsonia, passed away on Friday morning, July 21, 2023 at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Twp., with her family by her side.

Born in the Greenfield Section of Pittsburgh, on October 22, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Harry G. and Mazie Teufel Austin.

She was a graduate of Mt. Mercy College, now Carlow College with a B.A. in Education.

Madeleine had worked for Steel Recovery Corporation and then worked as a Travel Agent for Four Seasons Travel. She also worked at Landmark Bank in Ft. Lauderdale.

She was a member of Victory Family Church in Cranberry Twp.

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Bjalobok (Frank, Jr.) of Cranberry Twp.,, and Madeleine Carroll (Richard) of Hudson, FL., a son, Kirwan Flannery, III (Gennine) of Chandler, AZ, her step-daughter, Pam Cobak (Bob) of Pittsburgh, two step-sons, Jimmy Samarco (Kathy) and Bobby Samarco (Sandy), both of Pittsburgh, 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, one great-great grandson and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kirwan Flannery, Jr., who she married on April 11, 1944 and who died in 1972 and by her second husband, James M. Samarco, who she married on January 8, 1974 and who died in 2006, and by her brothers, Harry G., John “Jack” and Dr. James Austin.

Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc. 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Monday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Services will follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. John Nuzzo, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Allegheny County Memorial Park, McCandless Twp.,  PA.
