Lois Margaret Laux
On the wings of joyful Irish Angels, Lois Margaret Laux left this world on Monday, December
9th, 2024 to join her family in the Heavenly Emerald Isles.
Born July 29,1929 ( a true Leo if there ever was one), she was a proud graduate of St. Benedict Academy. Always the
mischievous one, she delighted in telling stories of sneaking smokes behind the nuns’ back
and rolling her uniform skirt above her knees when they weren’t looking. She excelled in
business courses and was an executive secretary for several downtown business firms before
becoming the banquet manager at the Sheraton Motor Inn North. Lois was a bride’s best
friend; she made sure each detail was in place before every wedding, confidently assuring
nervous couples it would be their most memorable day.
Politics? Well that was Lois’s favorite subject. In her earlier years, she ran for and won the
Republican Committee Woman post in Bellevue. She was a voracious reader (a frequent
patron at the Mars library) and loved to engage anyone in a lively discussion on political
candidates or current events. Amazingly, she knew every obscure fact about candidates and
policy issues so if you thought you could win a debate point from her—you never did!
Lois was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, William B. Laux, parents, Michael and
Laura Hurrie, and sisters Labetta Glancy and Mary Avanell Zener. She was the loving mother
of four children, Linda Lindenbaum (Jorge), William V. Laux, Michael F. Laux (deceased), and
Daniel G. Laux (Shelli). She leaves behind five grandchildren, Lindsay Austin (Phil), Lauren
Lindenbaum, Michael Lindenbaum (Kayla), Claire Laux, Laura Laux, and five greatgrandchildren,
Ivy Grace and Will Austin and Ethan, Olivia and Ava Lindenbaum.
The Laux family wishes to extend their deep gratitude to her dedicated caregivers, Beth and
Alexis of Bridges Hospice, and to the loving and caring staff at Concordia of Wexford.
As per Mom’s request, there will be no viewing.
