Obituary

Josephine Mary Cirucci Milie, 92, of Warrendale, PA, died peacefully at her home, on August 7, 2023. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Robert, who was the love of her life. She was the dear mother of Mark (Lisa) Milie of Peninsula, OH, Roberta Delazio of Pittsburgh, PA, and Marie (Cameron) Jones of Mars, PA, and the most treasured grandmother of Alexandra Delazio of Pittsburgh, PA.  Josephine was born in 1930 in Detroit, MI, and grew up in Latrobe, PA. After graduating from Latrobe High School, Josephine worked as a bookkeeper for Weis Furniture. She met and married Robert in 1956 and moved to Greensburg, PA, where they lived for 53 years before moving to Cranberry Township, PA.  While in Greensburg, along with being a wonderful homemaker and mother, Josephine generously lent a helping hand by volunteering her time to serve and sit on the boards of many organizations. She was a President of the Westmoreland Lawyers Auxiliary, Corresponding Secretary of the PA Lawyers Auxiliary, President of the Greensburg Club of Italian Women, President of the St. Anne’s Women’s Association, a member of the Social Board of St. Anne’s Home, Chairman of the Westmoreland Heart Association Dinner Dance, Chairman of the Westmoreland Mental Health Dinner Dance, a member for 9 years of the Westmoreland Bar Foundation Board of Trustees, a Eucharistic Minister for Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, and a volunteer at the Greensburg-Hempfield Library. Near and dear to Josephine’s heart was her strong Catholic faith and time involved at Our Lady of Grace parish in Greensburg. She was a member of the Rosary Altar Society, a Eucharistic Minister, and an Altar Server. She also spent her Saturday afternoons teaching CCD for countless years.  Many summers were spent with her family and parish friends working the church festivals. She became a member of Saint Mark the Evangelist Parish at St. Kilian Church in Cranberry Township, PA when she and Robert moved there. Josephine was an avid tennis player and golfer, and as a member of the Greensburg Country Club spent time enjoying those sports as well as serving as President of the GCC Women’s Golf Association and President of the GCC Couple’s Bowling League.  Josephine moved to The Waters of Wexford in 2018 and was proud to be their first resident, forming special friendships with the staff and other residents there.  What meant most in the world to Josephine was her family and she will be cherished always for being an extraordinary mother, grandmother and wife. She is survived by a sister, Phil Dymond, several sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and her close cousin, Philomena Pelini.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Concetta Cirucci, her brother, Mike and sister, Rose.  A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 11:00am at Saint Mark the Evangelist Parish at St. Kilian Church, 7076 Franklin Road, Cranberry Township, PA  16066. Friends and family will be received at the church from 9:30 – 11:00am prior to mass.

The family expresses their gratitude to her kind physician, Dr. Philip Iozzi, and to her caregiver, Joni Bender. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Vincent Seminary, 300 Fraser Purchase Road, Latrobe, PA 15650.
