Josephine Mancini Obituary

Josephine F. Mancini, age 94, of Mars, formerly of Ellwood City, passed away on Friday evening, December 19, 2025.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 17, 1931 to Italian immigrants, Peter and Maria Mazza Fazio, she was the youngest of four. Josephine’s life was forever changed when her mother unexpectedly passed away when she was nine years old. Jo was primarily raised by her beloved sister, Lena (Poulos) while living on “the bluff” in Pittsburgh, along with her father and two brothers, Armand (Grace) Fazio and Albert (Anne) Fazio, whom preceded her in death.

Josephine loved her work as an executive secretary at the Fraternal Order of the Moose, where she ultimately met the love of her life, Fred Mancini. Upon meeting in Pittsburgh at a Moose convention, Fred saw her struggling to carry a typewriter and offered to carry it for her, and the rest was history. They went on to marry in 1961 and had thirty-four wonderful years together before Fred’s passing in 1995.

Together they had two daughters: Mary Jo (Robert) Horvat and Patricia (Sean) Manion. Josephine took much joy in spending time with her family, including her five grandchildren: Anne Horvat, Liam Manion, Joseph Horvat, Keagan Manion, and Maeve Manion. Additionally, she was loved by her many nieces and nephews, and friends of 70 plus years.

Josephine was known for her delicious pizzelles and famous lasagna that she made frequently throughout the years. She enjoyed reading, watching her beloved westerns, and spending time at exercise and socializing with friends at Penn Mar Plaza apartment complex in Mars.  She was fortunate to have led a long and healthy life surrounded by much love of family and friends. She will be missed greatly, but we rejoice in knowing she is reunited with her loved ones.

We are grateful to the wonderful staff at Concordia in Cranberry, Penn-Mar Plaza apartment complex and Good Samaritan Hospice of Wexford for their kindness and compassionate care.
