Joseph Virostek Obituary

Joseph J. Virostek, age 98, of Warrendale, formerly of Seven Fields and O’Hara Twp., passed away on Monday morning, December 20, 2021 in the comfort of his home.

Born in Duquesne, PA on April 15, 1923, he was the son of the late Jacob and Anna Hovanec Virostek.

Joe was the owner of Charter Realty in the Fox Chapel Area as a real estate broker and developer. A graduate of Duquesne University, he was active in Commercial Real Estate since 1970. He was honored as a leading educator both nationally and locally teaching at Duquesne University, the Realtor’s Education Institute, and the PA Association of Realtors. He was a member and instructor of the National Association of Realtors.

He was one of the founders of Community Swim Club in O’Hara, a non-profit organization that still serves the community.

He served in the United States Army during WW II and was a member of St. Kilian Church in Cranberry Twp.

Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Anne Belton Virostek, who he married on October 13, 1951, four sons, Joseph Virostek, Jr. of Glenshaw, PA, Randy Virostek of Lakewood, CO, John Virostek (Robin) of Anaheim, CA and Thomas Virostek (Koleen) of Adams Twp., three daughters, Nancy Virostek (Barbara) and Amy Fotheringham, both of Lakewood, CO and Carolyn Virostek of Pittsburgh, PA, his grandchildren, Margaret (Joe) Gagliardi, Laura, A.J., Katie, Wolfie, Christopher, Sara, Josh, and Kathleen Virostek, and one great granddaughter, Colette Gagliardi.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Frank and Andrew Virostek, Irene Flowers, Helen Minnick and Mary Virostek.

Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc. 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Monday, December 27, 2021 from 5-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in St. Kilian Church, 7076 Franklin Rd. Cranberry Twp., PA 16066 on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at 10:00 AM. Fr. Charles Bober, pastor, officiating. The family request that masks be worn at both the funeral home and church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Glenshaw. Following the committal service a reception will be held from 1:30 - 4:00 PM at Springfield Grill, 7001 Crider Rd. Mars. PA 16046.
