John B. Grau

John B. Grau, age 91, of Valencia, formerly of Middlesex Twp., passed away on Thursday evening, December 7, 2023 in the comfort of his home.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 2, 1932, he was the son of the late John and Edna Schultz Grau.

John was a Facility Engineer for Bell Telephone at the Northern District in Bellevue.

He served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Mars United Presbyterian Church, where he was active on the A-Team.  He sang with Butler Notables Barbershop Chorus and was a member of John E. Mair Lodge #729, F. & A.M. and the Syria Shrine and Consistry.

Surviving are three daughters, Karen Marshall (Roger) of Slippery Rock, Linda Hawkins (Julius Forehand) of Biloxi, Mississippi and Carol Sunday (Wayne) of Evans City, his granddaughters, Julie Sebock (Pete) and Jill Reed (Jeff) and his great grandchildren, Dylan and Logan Sebock, Brock Reed and Abigail Marshall. 

Brother of Audrey Negley, Janet Gratzer (Harold), Carol Pefferman and the late Dennis Grau.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen McCune Grau, who he married on August 9, 1952 and who died on June 27, 2021 and by a grandson, Michael Marshall.

Friends will be received at the Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Avenue, Mars, PA 16046 on Sunday, December 10, 2023 from 4-6:00 PM. Services will follow at 6:00 PM with Rev. Brian Houser, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Cheswick, PA. Memorials may be made to the Mars U.P. Church.
