James M. "Jim" Lawther, age 59, of Middlesex Twp., Valencia, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning, June 23, 2024 in the comfort of his home.
Born in McCandless Twp., PA on July 31, 1964, he was the son of Evelyn Lawther Cotto and the late Anthony Cotto.
Jim had been a postal clerk for the Gibsonia Post Office.
He was an avid Harley Davidson rider. He loved to play disc golf, hiking, swimming and the time spent with family and especially with his grandkids.
Surviving are his wife - his high school sweetheart - Sharon A. Murphy Lawther, who he has been with for 41 years and married to for 36 years on October 8, 1988, two sons, Kevin R. Lawther (fiancee Hope Guardalabene) of Jefferson Twp., and Kurtis J. Lawther of Zelienople, his grandchildren, Alaya, Autumn and Maxwell Lawther and Lea Caudill, his mother, Evelyn Cotto of Gibsonia, five sisters, Debbie Lerch (Marco), Robin Cosme (Felix), Lisa Cotto, all of Middlesex Twp., Kim Mimm of Downieville and Shannon Cotto (fiancee Dan) of Kittanning, two brothers, David Cotto of Shaler Twp. and Charles "C.J." Cotto of Downieville. Also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Cotto.
Friends are invited to a Celebration of Jim's Life at the Penn-Glade Lions Club, 140 Church Rd. Butler, PA 16002 on Sunday, July 28, 2024 beginning at 2:00 PM. Memorials in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
