James G. Ward

James G. Ward, age 80, of Mars, formerly of Marshall Twp., passed away on Sunday morning, June 28, 2020, in the comfort of his home.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 5, 1940, he was the son of the late Francis and Margaret Wittmer Ward.

Jim was a Senior Communications Installer and System Technician for Western Electric, et.al.

He was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Mars V.F.W. Post 7505 and the Wexford American Legion Post 0161.

He also belonged to St. John Lutheran Church in Mars and the Forester’s Financial.

Surviving are his wife, Martha Gurtner Ward, who he married on March 26, 1966, three sons, Regis Ward (Christina) of Valencia, Robert Ward (Elizabeth) of Butler and Jeffrey Ward of Mars, his grandchildren, Jessica Woomer (James) and Christian Ward.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Vitanza and his brothers, Harry and Robert Ward.

Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc. 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Wednesday from 6-8 PM. Services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, 420 Beaver St. Mars, PA. Rev. Robert Zimmerman, pastor, officiating. Masks will be required at the church service.  Everyone is welcome to join the family for lunch at the church hall following the service.  Graveside Military Honors will be held at the Mausoleum at Allegheny County Memorial Park on Thursday at 2:00 PM.
