James Harper, Jr. Obituary

James S. Harper, age 89, of Franklin Park, passed away on Thursday morning, November 6, 2025 at Hemsley House of McCandless.

Born in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania on April 18, 1936, he was the son of the late James S. and Fannie Smith Harper, Sr.

Jim had been an engineer for U.S. Steel and Cyclops Corporation and most recently was taught construction at the Community College of Allegheny County for over 20 years.

He was a member of the Ingomar United Methodist Church and had been the superintendent of the cemetery there.

Jim was also an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia A. Connor Harper, who he married on January 25, 1958, the day before they both graduated from Penn State University, State College, and who died on October 26, 2013 and by his grandchildren, Michelle Harper and Max Waples.

Father of Jane Winter (Rick) of Neshkoro, WI, and James S. Harper, III (Susan) of Chelsea, Alabama, grandfather of Lauren Fitz-Gerald (Col. Douglas) and Mitch Winter, great grandfather of Theo Galanti and Charlie, Oliver and Harper Fitz-Gerald.

Arrangements are being completed for a Memorial Service. Burial will be in the Ingomar United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Ingomar United Methodist Church Cemetery Association, 1501 Ingomar Rd. Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
