James Francis Feyrer

James Francis Feyrer, 91, of Cranberry Township and Valencia, PA, went to be with his Lord on March 4, 2026.  Born March 13, 1934, in Batavia, New York, son of the late Pastor Joseph and Nellie (Montgomery) Feyrer, and raised by his stepmother Lois after Nellie passed away in his toddler years. He was predeceased by his wife Doris Jean (Van Housen) Feyrer on February 5, 2026, who adored him for 70 years. Loving father of James R. (Cathy) Feyrer of Elizabeth City, NC, David J. Feyrer of Butler, PA, Daniel B. (Nancy) Feyrer of Allison Park, PA, Doreen M. (Douglas) Whitstone of Pittsburgh, PA and Carole A. Kelly of Pittsburgh, PA; Proud Grampa/Pop-pop of 12; Treasured great-grandfather of 18.

James, called Jim, was brother of the late John W. Feyrer, the late Joseph A. (Peg) Feyrer, and the late Jean T. Weaver. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Jim grew up in the Finger Lakes region of New York and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior at the age of 9.  When his father took the pastorate of Wilson Baptist Church, Wilson, New York, Jim met his lovely wife Doris who lived next door to the parsonage.  After they finished high school, Jim earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania on an Army ROTC scholarship. Jim and Doris married at Wilson Baptist Church August 13, 1955, and Doris maintained residence in Wilson during the years that Jim fulfilled his commission as a Lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers. After Jim was honorably discharged from the Army, they settled in Sewickley, Pennsylvania.  Within a few years they purchased property, and Jim designed their home in Cranberry Township, where they resided for more than 60 years.

Jim served as Sunday School teacher, choir member, song leader and Elder in two Baptist churches, all while supporting his family of five children as a licensed Professional Civil Engineer at the US Steel Corporation in Pittsburgh. Jim applied his Engineering knowledge to construction projects in those churches.  He taught his children to sing and encouraged them to play musical instruments in church and in high school. He passed many talents to his grandchildren, spent time playing board games and outdoor sports, built jigsaw puzzles, collected coins, served as a Boy Scout leader, and travelled to various states to see family and friends. He loved word search puzzles and was an avid reader. In his later years, Jim sang first tenor in the Pittsburgh Concert Chorale for 20 years, while still serving as Sunday School teacher, choir member, served as Alliance Men’s Treasurer for 40 years, Elder for 35 years, and was part of the Oddjobber men’s group that did various projects around the church, at Mars Alliance/LifePointe Alliance Church where Jim and Doris attended for over 40 years. After retirement, Jim traveled with Doris on week-long excursions to Israel, Greece and England, and together they served on mission trips with their church to Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina, and with Builders for God. They loved to serve the Lord together every opportunity they had. They shared their love for God with their children.

The family would like to thank The Arbors Valencia staff for the kind and loving care they provided Jim while he was a resident.

Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc. 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Sunday from 2-5 PM.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jims’ life during the service at the McDonald Aeberli Funeral Home at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 9, 2026.
