Isabel Jane Sneddon Boynton, age 98, of Mars, passed away on Monday morning, May 6, 2024 at Concordia of Cabot.
Born in Yonkers, N.Y. on March 28, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Lamond and Isabel Cahill Sneddon.
A graduate of New York University, Isabel had earned a B.S. in Music Education in 1947 and a M.A. in Elementary Education in 1950. She taught in public schools in New York City and in Butler County. She was a private music teacher and Chancel Choir Director of Christ United Presbyterian Church in Mars and the Mars United Presbyterian Church for 35 years.
A member and past deacon of the Mars United Presbyterian Church, she was active in the Chancel Choir and the Presbyterian Women. She was a Past President of the Women's Club of Mars, Past President of the Mars American Legion Auxiliary Unit 787, Past District President of the Butler Council American Legion Auxiliary, Past President of the Butler Rural Mail Carriers Auxiliary, Past Chief Daughter Lady Douglas 69-Daughters of Scotia and a member of Delta Zeta Sorority.
Surviving are her daughter, Janet Isabel Boynton Simons of Towson, Maryland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Boynton, who she married on June 25, 1949 and who died on May 21, 1994.
Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc. 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Monday, May 13, 2024 from 6-8 PM. Services will be held at the Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA 16046 on Tuesday at 11:00 AM. Rev. Brian Hauser, officiating.
