Gloria Mae (Crowell) Saddoris at age 92 moved to her Eternal Home on October 11, 2023. Gloria was born April 30, 1931, to Elmer and Opal Crowell in Cleveland, Oklahoma. She married Marvin L. Saddoris, Jr. in 1950 also from Cleveland. Their early years were spent in Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Camdenton, Missouri. Together they adopted three children, David Wayne, James Bradley, and Tina Michelle. Gloria approached her roles of wife, mom, and homemaker with such love and perfection.
As the family moved with Marvin’s work, Gloria got the family established in churches, made friends, and planted many gardens in Missouri, Arkansas, and Kansas. The family settled in Clinton, Missouri where later, she and Marvin enjoyed having their farm. Gloria had both vegetable and beautiful flower gardens that were a perfect spot to host her garden club. She cared for chickens, cows and her beloved dogs. While loving all animals, she had a special love for her German Shepherds.
Gloria was actively a part of her church from a very young age. She taught Sunday school, VBS, sang in the choir, did visitations, and compiled the Clinton Methodist Church history. As her father was – she was an artist. From paintings, setting a special table, to even her handwriting, she saw and made things beautiful. Gloria also enjoyed playing the piano and singing. She even got the whole family all out singing Christmas carols to the neighbors.
Gloria made a move to Pennsylvania in 2021 to live with her daughter. Her encouraging notes that she sent to family and friends would typically include her expression of, “Wow!” She loved to see the beauty of this region and never ceased to praise God for His creation.
Proceeded in death by her parents, Elmer and Opal Crowell, her husband Marvin L. Saddoris, Jr., oldest son, David Wayne, brothers, Don and Bailey “Pete” Crowell, and grandson, David Allen.
Survived by son, James Bradley (Sue) Saddoris, daughter, Tina Michelle Swanson (John), granddaughter, Laura Mae Riland (Mike), grandsons, Joshua David Swanson (Tirzah), Jeffrey David Swanson (Addie), Josiah David Swanson, ten great grandchildren, a niece and nephews, and many who knew and loved her.
Memorial service will be held at a later time in Missouri.
