Gladys L. Petrie

Gladys L. Petrie, age 98, formerly of Penn Mar Plaza in Mars and Conway, passed away on Saturday evening, March 8, 2025 at Kane Community Living Center in Ross Twp., with her family by her side.

Born in Elkhart, Indiana on February 2, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Lulu McDowell Barrick.

She had worked as a Alka Selzer Bottler for Miles Laboratory

Gladys had attended the Mars United Methodist Church and enjoyed bowling with the Mars Sr. Citizens at Mars Lanes.

Surviving are a daughter, Jacque Merkel (James) of Bluffton, S.C., two sons, Dennis Petrie (Phyllis) of Monaca and Gary Petrie (Sara) of Latrobe, 18 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Petrie, by two sons, Kenneth and Terry Petrie and by four brothers and one sister.

Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc. 238 Crowe Avenue, Mars, PA on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 4-7 PM. Services will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Rev. Jim Ailes, hospice chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Freedom, PA.
