George Rabold Obituary

We are sad to announce the passing of our family's patriarch, George Frank Rabold. He died quietly on Monday, January 30th, 2023.  He was 95.

He was born on September 4th, 1927 to Edith and George Rabold, the eldest of four children. Born into a family of German  bakers and farmers, he was drafted into the bakery trade at the early age of four. This remained his lifelong occupation, late into his retirement years. He worked with both his father and his uncle, until he opened his own bakery in 1951. Later in 1979, he purchased another bakery which he operated  as well as managing two Shop N Save bakeries, and others.  He was a master baker, able to create anything from a dinner roll to an exquisite wedding cake.

In 1946, while in the eleventh grade, the hard working farm boy was drafted into the army and was stationed at General MacArthur's Headquarters  in Japan during the occupation.  In 1951 he was stationed in Germany, having been called up  for the National Guard during the cold war. There he was appointed as the baker for the officers, where he personally prepared an elaborate birthday cake for General Mark Clark.  The commander was so impressed, that he personally commended George.

In 1969, George and his family underwent a spiritual rebirth, which would forever change the lives of George and the lives of his family. He had the opportunity to start two churches, in the Mars Area, and he readily and steadfastly applied his amazing work ethic to this new and arduous undertaking. The farm boy, who had planted thousands of seeds on his father's eighty-nine acre farm in Wexford, now planted seeds of faith in the hearts and minds of anyone who was willing to listen. He was an avid purveyor of the gospel, and did so without apology, until the day he died.

He is predeceased by his former wife of forty-four years and mother of his children, Minnie Elva Werner Rabold. She died in 1993..

George leaves behind his gracious and caring wife of seventeen years, Joyce Lutty Rabold, who loyally  and lovingly cared for him for so many years.

He is survived by one sister Anna Rabold Kaspersky.

He leaves behind his seven cherished children and their spouses George Richard (Lynne) Rabold, Karen Lynn (Dave) Goodwin,  Jeffrey Bruce (Fran) Rabold, Douglas Ernest (Eidson) Rabold, Steven Dale (Sharon) Rabold,  Clint Eric (Megann) Rabold, Gwen Eda Rabold Belonzi, and a treasured stepdaughter, Sandy Muehlbronner, seventeen grandchildren, eighteen grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 11th, 2023, at 11 o'clock AM at Christian Community Church located at 5719 North Montour Road, Gibsonia, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Christian Community Church. Live streaming will be available at  http://YouTube.com/@christiancommunitychurchri1346.
