Gary Schlemmer

Gary Schlemmer, age 78, of Valencia, passed away on October 19, 2024, while under the care of Concordia at Cabot.

Born in Punxsutawney on March 24, 1946, he was the son of the late Leonard and Thelma Corey Schlemmer.

A devoted member of his dear church family at Lifepoint(Mars) Alliance Church for 50 years.

Gary worked at Westinghouse EDM (later known as Curtiss-Wright) for his entire career as a mechanical engineer. He was a very devoted husband and father, and loved vacationing in Maine and taking care of his pet rabbits.

After retirement, Gary became interested in family genealogy with independent research and participated in genealogy groups from around the world. He was very active in assisting with a grief share group of close friends. Until a recent health decline, Gary enjoyed living independently, with visits from his son and grandson.

Surviving is a son, Joshua Schlemmer; a grandson, Jayden Schlemmer; two brothers, Robert (Janet) Schlemmer and David (Janine) Schlemmer; a sister-in-law, Glenda (Danny) Cook; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Jessie Andrews Schlemmer.

Friends will be received on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Life Pointe Alliance Church, Mars Campus, ​997 PA-228, Mars, PA 16046 from 2 – 4 PM and 6 – 7 PM. Funeral services will follow at 7 PM, with Rev. Paul Cope, officiating.

Burial will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Mahoning Union Cemetery in Marchand, PA at 11:00 AM.
