Frederick Allan Kline, age 80, of Pine Twp., passed away on June 19, 2021 after a brief illness. The second-oldest of nine children, Fred was born in Savannah, GA in 1941 to Dr. Bernard and Bertha Kline. Dr. Kline passed away when Fred was 14. Fred grew up in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, attending Bethel Park HS and later the University of Pittsburgh. Fred served in the Army Reserves and worked as a sales representative for several large clothing companies including Wrangler, Lee and OshKosh B’gosh. He was a longtime Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Penguins fan as well as a coach and fan of his sons’ teams. He will be remembered as a regular at the Pine Community Center gym and a lover of dogs including his most-recent dog, Abbe.
Fred is survived by his wife, Nancy (Bodnar); his two sons, Jeff Kline (Julie) and Marc Kline (Kylie); his grandson, August Kline, his brothers: Joel Kline (Marjorie) of Houston, TX, Matthew Kline (Sandy) of Alexandria, VA, and Dr. Ernest Kline (the late Eileen) of Upper St. Clair; his sisters, Eleanor Kulikowski (Jerry) of Knoxville, TN and Gretchen Cooley (Jackson) of Houston, TX. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his brothers, David and Eric and his sister, Suzanne Varley.
Arrangements were private and handled by McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home. Fred’s life will be celebrated at a memorial service at a later date.
