Elaine Pater Obituary

Elaine B. Pater, 86, of Valencia, PA, went to be with Jesus in the early morning hours of Thursday, December 18, 2025.

Born on March 21, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Helen Rogel McKalloff and Nickolaus McKalloff.

A lifelong resident of the local community, Elaine was a proud graduate of Deer Lakes High School, Class of 1957. Her spirited nature shone brightly during her school days, where she served as the Head Majorette for the West Deer Braves. It was during these formative years that she met her high school sweetheart, Louis Pater. The couple was united in marriage in 1960, building a life founded on love and devotion.

A woman of deep spiritual conviction, Elaine was a devoted Catholic. She was a longtime member of St. Kilian Parish in Mars, PA, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, and later attended Holy Sepulcher Church. In her younger years, Elaine was an avid volunteer, always ready to help out and known for the delicious pies she baked for church events.

Elaine’s creativity touched every part of her life. She belonged to a local quilting club, where she stitched together not only beautiful quilts but also many lasting friendships. She took great pride in her home, finding joy in home decorating, gardening, and looking through new recipes. Her talents in the kitchen were exceptional; she was a gifted baker and cake designer who even created wedding cakes for special occasions.

Most of all, Elaine was defined by her unwavering devotion to her beloved family. She spent her years nurturing and caring for those she loved. She was a compassionate caregiver for her mother and sister during their battles with ovarian cancer, and she steadfastly helped her daughter care for her son, Eric, prior to his passing in May of 2024.

Elaine is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Louis Pater; and her cherished daughter, Laurie Walters and her husband Brian. She also leaves behind her three grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, and her beloved son, Eric Pater.
