Dr. Edward Totin, Sr. Obituary

Dr. Edward A. Totin, Sr., age 94, of Middlesex Twp., Valencia passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023 at Westmoreland Manor in Greensburg.

Born in Edenborn, Fayette County, PA on September 24, 1928, he was the son of the late Peter and Mary Sidun Totin.

Dr. Totin was a physical therapist beginning his career at St. Francis then with Butler Memorial Hospital until he maintained a private practice for 20 years at the Morgan Management Building in Butler. He was a member of the American and the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association.

He belonged to the United Commercial Travelers and the N.R.A.

He was a referee for the PIAA and WPIAL organizations and was an athletic trainer for 35 years in Mars, Butler and Armstrong County and with Ft. Pitt Chapter of Track and Field.  He was a Founder and Chairman of the Advisory Committee for the Butler VNA and served as an EMT and Board Member of Quality EMS.

He was a member of St. Andrew’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Gibsonia.

Surviving are his children, Edward A. Totin, Jr. (Rose) of Middlesex Twp., Dr. Andrea Totin Lavorde, M.D. (Randall) in Australia, Dr. Mary E. deBeus, Ph.D. in Arden, N.C., Pamela Althardt (Kevin) of Greensburg, Leatrice Totin Krivanski (Michael) of Allison Park and Anne Totin of Beechview.  Also 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Leatrice Slater Totin, who he married on October 21, 1950 and who died on June 25, 2012 and by his siblings, Peter G. Totin, Michael J. Totin, Marie Barbush and Irene Hess.

Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc. 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Funeral Mass in St. Andrew the Apostle Byzantine Catholic Church, 235 Logan Rd. Gibsonia, PA 15044 on Thursday at 10:00 AM. Fr. Radko Bilchar. Please meet at the church. Burial will be in Mars Cemetery, Adams Twp., PA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation, St. Andrew’s Church or the American Heart Association.
