Our hearts are saddened to announce the passing of David J. Barber, the beloved husband of Celeste Barber. David, 60, of Valencia, went home to be with the Lord on October 28th, 2022 surrounded by loved ones after a 9 month battle with cancer.

Born on July 12, 1962 in Harrison Twp, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Glenn Sr. and Marcella Barber. David had a lifelong passion for the turf grass industry showcased through his work as Superintendent at Cranberry Highlands Golf Course.

David enjoyed everything involving the outdoors including hunting, fishing, and gardening. He had a passion for cooking, grilling, and smoking food. In addition, he loved and followed sports, enjoyed exercising, and spending time with  family and friends. David was a supportive family man full of compassion, joy, and humor. Most of all, he was a strong, passionate follower of Christ.

David married his beloved wife, Celeste Barber on October 25, 1997 in Fox Chapel. David was a loving father to Chaz (Erin) Hackett of Canonsburg, Carlee Valiknac of New Castle, Kyle Barber of Valencia, Ryan Barber of Valencia, and Hailey Barber of Valencia. He was also the loving Pappy to Arianna and Julianna Hackett; Landon, Braydon, and Camdon Valiknac. David was the beloved brother to Cindy (Clay) Graham, Glenn (Beatrice) Barber, Linda Levandoski, Kimberly Bartoe, Janet (Jackie) Diaz, Timothy (Tammy) Barber, and the late Mark (Annie) Barber.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, November 3rd from 5 pm to 8 pm at McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave, Mars, PA. A Celebration of Life will follow on Friday, November 4th starting at 6 pm at North Way Christian Community, 12121 Perry Hwy, Wexford, PA 15090. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Light of Life Homeless Shelter, The House of Manna, and/or East End Ministry Hub, all located in Pittsburgh, PA.
