Daniel I. Shostak, age 63, of Silver Spring, MD, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring.
Dan graduated from Allderdice High School in Pittsburgh, Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and the University of California, Berkeley with dual Master’s in Public Health and Public Policy.
He worked in the public policy field and in later years as a statistics tutor.
Dan loved long distance running, playing the violin, baseball and dogs.
He had many life-long friends that he cherished. He was a good friend that was always willing to lend a sympathetic ear and words of encouragement.
Surviving are his partner, Vanessa Ripps of Silver Spring, his father, Stanley Shostak and his partner, Marcia Landy of Pittsburgh, his brother, Russell Shostak and his wife, Denise of Pell City, AL, and his nieces, Caitlin Shostak Lotz and her husband, Andrew, of Birmingham, AL and Melissa Shostak and her partner, Benjamin Sakarin of Arlington, VA.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Shostak.
Friends are invited to a Graveside Service on Sunday 12:00 Noon at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, corner of Mt. Pleasant and Franklin Rds., Warrendale, PA 15086 with Cantor Michal Gray-Schaffer, of Congregation B’nai Abraham, officiating. In lieu of flowers, we invite contributions to the charity of your choice, honoring Daniel’s legacy.
