Concetta Mary Mazzola Obituary

Concetta Mary Mazzola, 89, of Valencia, PA, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025. She was a beloved mother, wife, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Mary was born on December 8th,1935 in Ossining, NY.  She grew up in Peekskill, NY, where she was captain of the cheerleaders at Peekskill High School.  As a first generation Italian-American, she came from a large family, with five brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews who affectionately referred to her as “Auntie Mare”.  After high school, Mary moved to NYC, sporting her “Mary Tyler Moore” style as a secretary at IBM.  She enjoyed traveling and loved spending time in Italy.  She met her husband, Mario, on a blind date in 1968. They were married in 1969 until his passing in 2023.

More than anything, Mary was a devoted wife and mother.  After having kids, Mary and Mario relocated upstate to Clifton Park, NY where she was a stay at home mom to her two children.  She loved cooking and could easily recreate any dish after tasting it just once.  Her homemade sauce was a Sunday staple and often requested by visitors.  Mary was a phenomenal cook, and according to her husband, never cooked a bad meal in 54 years.  She also enjoyed knitting and was famous in her family for knitting Christmas stockings for everyone.

Mary and Mario retired to Deerfield Beach, Florida, where they enjoyed watching the boats from their balcony, Caribbean cruises, walks on the beach, and playing canasta with their friends.  In their later years, they relocated to Valencia, PA to be closer to Claudia and John.

Mary is survived by her children, Andrew (Karen) Mazzola of Sanford, FL, Claudia (John) Lee of Valencia, PA and her grandson, Nicholas Mazzola of Sanford Florida.  Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
