Chandler LaMar "Wimpy" Sampey

Chandler L. "Wimpy" Sampey, age 92, of Warrendale, formerly of Uniontown and Plum Boro, passed away on Wednesday evening, February 5, 2025 in the comfort of his home with his family by his side.

Born in Connellsville, PA on February 2, 1933, he was the son of the late Melvin and Mary Mae Mulligan Sampey.

Chandler was a 1951 graduate of Georges Twp. High School (now Albert Gallatin) and received his Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Waynesburg College in 1958. He then earned his Master's degree from West Virginia University in 1963.

He started his teaching career with North Union School District and then went to Gateway School District in Monroeville, where he taught Elementary Education for over 40 years.

He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War Era.

Wimpy enjoyed attending services at a variety of churches including, Holiday Park United Methodist Church in Plum Boro, Third Presbyterian Church in Uniontown, LifePointe Alliance Church in Mars and Victory Family Church in Cranberry Twp.

He was married 48 years to Mary Ann Marsden Sampey, who preceded him in death on September 23, 2008. Brother of the late Melvin "Corky" Sampey, June Ansell, Betty Lex and Donald "Dink" Sampey.

Survived by his children, Scott Sampey (Dayna) of Maple Grove, MN and Marla Melnyk (R.J.) of Warrendale, his grandchildren, Sara Sampey Verlennich (Brett) and Sam Sampey and Max, Melina and Makenna Melnyk. Also survived by two sisters-in-law, Catherine Sampey and Linda Sampey. Also many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at LifePointe Alliance Church, 997 Rt. 228, Mars, PA 16046 on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Paul Cope, officiating. The family will greet friends at a luncheon following the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to LifePointe Alliance Church, 997 Rt. 228, Mars, PA 16046 or to the Kingdom Builders at Victory Family Church (lifeatvictory.onlinegiving.org.)
