Betty J. (Gilleland) Steiner

Betty J. Gilleland Steiner, age 100, of Clearwater, FL., formerly of Gibsonia, PA passed away on Sunday evening, May 18, 2025 at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater.

Born in Valencia, PA on June 15, 1924, she was the daughter of the late William O. and Clara L. Kennedy Gilleland.

She was Assistant Postmaster for Valencia, PA from 1942-1946.  She wrote for the Valencia Vagabond during the war. This was a news magazine for servicemen. Betty had been a medical receptionist for a medical office in Pittsburgh and Largo, FL for 28 years. For many years she was a Pinellas County Poll Worker.

After WWII, she married Ralph Steiner, February 16th, 1946 upon his return from the Philippines and Japan. 

She is survived by 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, a nephew, several great nieces and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph R. Steiner, two sons, James R. Steiner and Ronald D. Steiner, her sister, Helen V. Porter and a brother, William Kennedy Gilleland.

She was a super-fan of college sports; always learning, reading, writing and baking cookies for friends and family.  She moved from Gibsonia, PA to Clearwater, FL in 1976 with concern for Ralph's health. 

Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc. 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 1-2 PM. Services will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
