Betty J. Kalmeyer, age 97, formerly of Pittsburgh's North Side and Cranberry Twp., passed away on Sunday evening, October 29, 2023.
She was born in Lima, Ohio on April 8, 1926 to Charles and Bertha Young and lived in Pittsburgh near Perry High School until 1992, then moved to Cranberry Twp. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, embroidery and bingo on occasion.
She attended Nativity grade school and Perry High School. She worked several jobs over the years-at Unertl's on the North Side making lenses for scopes, at Rosenbaum's Department Store, as a sales clerk and at Fisher Scientific Company in Pittsburgh and as an Electrode Fabricator making electrodes for labs and hospitals. Betty spent most of her vacations at Chautauqua Lake, fishing, swimming and watching her kids and grandkids having fun. She retired from Fisher in 1991 and enjoyed her leisure time doing jigsaw puzzles, playing games on her tablet, reading and sitting on the porch watching the birds and other animals in the yard. She also liked lottery tickets and the occasional trip to the casino.
She was preceded in death and welcomed home to heaven by her husband, Irvin R. Kalmeyer, her parents, Charles and Bertha Young, her sister, Virginia (Gilbert) Royer and many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, friends and more.
She is survived by her children, Marilyn (Paul) Daubman, Curtis (Virginia) Kalmeyer, Karen Kalmeyer, grandkids, Amy (Tony) Savko, Jason (Breanna) Daubman, Lisa Kalmeyer, Curt Kalmeyer, David (Sharon) Kalmeyer, great grandkids, Sean, Luke, Leah, Beau, Mason, Angelina, Anthony, Madison, Carter and Kinslee.
