Barbara A. Gaynord, age 91, of Middlesex Twp., Valencia, passed away on Sunday evening, July 31, 2022 in the comfort of her home with her family at her side.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 29, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Barbara Oskamp Pelkofer.
Barb had been a secretary for the Diocese of Pittsburgh, for the U.S. Air Force in Oakdale, for the Army Corp of Engineers in Neville Island and finally for Kennihan Plumbing and Heating. She also worked at Steel City Motors and drove school bus for the Richland Schools.
She was a long time member of Holy Sepulcher Church, where she was a bell ringer and had served on Parish Council and had been president of PTG for 16 years.
She had been a Boy Scout Mom and a Girl Scout Leader.
Barb was a master gardener and enjoyed painting and going to her card clubs.
Devoted mother of Barbara Aho of Lake Worth, FL, Patricia Kennihan (William) of Middlesex Twp., Michele Gaynord of Carnegie, Nora Miller (Matthew) of North Hills, Martin Gaynord, III of Middlesex Twp., Matthew Gaynord (Theresa) of N.Y.C., Mark Gaynord of Mars and Michael Gaynord (Diane) in Hawley, PA, 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, her brother, Frank Pelkofer, Jr. (Melanie) of Karns City and a daughter-in-law, Sherri Gaynord of Middlesex Twp.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Gaynord, Jr., who she married on July 12, 1952 and who died in April 18, 2008 and by a sister, Joan Morgan.
Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc. 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Sepulcher Church, 1304 E. Cruikshank Rd. Butler, PA 16002 (Glade Mills), on Saturday at 11:00 AM with Fr. Charles Bober, pastor, officiating. Please meet at the church. Burial will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
