Anthony "Tony" Traficante, D.D.S. Obituary

Anthony “Tony” Traficante, D.D.S., of Cranberry Twp., formerly of Churchhill, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, May 16, 2023 on his 91st birthday. Tony was a loving husband, dedicated father, generous grandfather, loyal brother and doting son.  He will be forever remembered for his generosity, love of family and quick wit.

Tony was born in Wilkinsburg on May 16, 1932. After losing his father at a young age, Tony quickly filled the role of “man of the house” and looked after his mother, Katherine and sisters, Mary and Concetta. Tony met his soon-to-be wife, Peggy at Wilkinsburg High School and they have been together for 76 years since then.  After his graduation from Pitt Dental School, Tony joined the Navy as a dentist during the Korean War. Tony and Peggy remembered their time at Camp Lejeune as one of the happiest times of their life. After his discharge from the Navy, Tony ran a successful dental practice in Penn Hills, where he had many loyal patients. He retired at the age of 80.

Although he was a hard worker, Tony knew how to enjoy life. He maintained many close friendships, and enjoyed golf, games of poker and dinners out to his favorite Italian restaurants. An adventurous man, his love of travel took him to over 20 countries and he generously included his extended family on most trips and ski excursions. Above all, Tony was a deeply family-oriented man and his family remembers him fondly during his happiest moment, with his family around a dinner table with too much pasta, a chianti in hand and cracking jokes.

Tony was preceded in death by his sisters, Concetta and his daughter, Cindy. Surviving are his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Traficante, his daughters, Linda Laratonda (Dave) of Lower Burrell and Sherry Sarver (Larry) of Mars, his grandchildren, Kira (Steve), Kaylyn, Taylor, Jordan, Maggie and Alex and his great grandchildren, Ella and Lyla and his sister, Mary Sombo of Cranberry Twp.

Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc., 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Saturday from 1-4:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the ALS Association (als.org)or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Association (lls.org). Directions and condolences are available at www.mcdonald-aeberli.com.
