William Pettigrew, Sr. Obituary

William G. Pettigrew, Sr., age 95, formerly of Jeannette, passed away Saturday morning, June 30, 2018 at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Twp.

Born in Greensburg, PA on September 1, 1922, he was the son of the late Andrew and Frances Krantz Pettigrew.

Bill had been a laborer for Fisher Body in Dravosburg.

He had served in the United States Army during W.W. II., and had been a member of the Jeannette American Legion.

Active in his community, he was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Norwin Elks, past president of the Jeannette Lions Club and past president of the Jeannette Baseball Association. Bill also enjoyed golf.

Surviving are a son, Dr. William G. Pettigrew, Jr. and his wife, Debrah of Mars, his grandchildren, Melissa Rhen (David), Jeffrey Pettigrew (Katie), Molly Piercy (Brian) and Matthew Pettigrew (Laura), his great grandchildren, Izabella, Aubrey and Elizabeth Pettigrew, Ella and Landon Rhen and Carmella and Colestock Piercy, and by nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Mareschi Pettigrew and by his siblings, Betty Brinkley and Jack, Robert and Richard Pettigrew.

Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Kilian Church, 7076 Franklin Rd. Cranberry Twp., PA 16066, on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 10:00 AM, with Fr. Charles Bober, pastor, officiating. Military Honors will follow at the church. The family will greet friends from 9:30 to 10:00 AM at the church. Committal Services will be on Thursday at 2:00 PM at the Twin Valley Memorial Park in Delmont. Memorials may be directed to the Mars Planet Foundation, P.O. Box 1031, Mars, PA 16046.
