Timothy "Tim" Rowan Obituary

Timothy Paul "Tim" Rowan, age 68, of Clinton Twp., Saxonburg, formerly of Mars, passed away on Sunday morning, November 4, 2018 in the comfort of his home.

Born In Oil City, Venango County, PA on January 25, 1950, he was the son of the late John E. and Esther Marie Schimp Rowan.

A career veteran, Tim had served in the United States Navy and then the United States Army during the Vietnam War and also Operation Desert Storm, reaching the rank of Major (4). He was a member of the Mars V.F.W. Post 7505..

Tim was later a Technical Clerk for the Social Security Administration.

He belonged to the John E. Mair Lodge 729 F. & A.M. and the Syria Shrine-Legion of Honor. He enjoyed volunteering his time to transport children for the Shriner's Hospitals.

He was an avid hiker and fisherman, enjoyed traveling and the outdoors, but especially loved being with his grandkids.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia "Ginger" Domhoff Rowan, who he married on January 2, 1976, a daughter, Lesley Bruce (Matt) of Asheville, N.C., a son, Justin Rowan (Jody) of Clinton Twp., his grandchildren, Jack and Oliver Rowan and Evelyn, Benjamin and Julia Bruce, two sisters, Pamela Eckberg of Erie and Roberta Rowan (Sue) of Mars, a brother, Mark Rowan (Roslyn) of Pittston, PA, and nephews, Alex Rowan of Pittston, PA and Brandon and Richie Rowan of Mars.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John Rowan.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Mars V.F.W. Post 7505, 331 Mars-Valencia Rd. Mars, PA 16046 on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11:30 AM. Rev. Dr. Chris Marshall, officiating. A reception will follow. Memorial donations may be made to the Western PA Chapter of the ALS Association, 416 Lincoln Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15209.
