Nancie Johnson Obituary

Nancie was born in Evans City on Nov. 1, 1936 to Walter F. Rahiser and Alma Wagner.  Nancie was a graduate of the Evans City High School, class of 1954.  While there, she was both a drum player and a majorette.

Nancie’s working career started with Step Saver in Evans City.  She later moved to Zelienople where she began work with the Herman Corporation as a secretary.  She later moved to Coraopolis to work at Elkem Metals Corp.  Her position there encompassed not only secretarial duties and office management from mailroom to supplies, but also logistical planning for several company location changes, arrangement for movers, packers, and office design layout.

After retirement, she returned to Zelienople to become a resident of the Passavant Retirement Community.  At Passavant, she began a new career as a volunteer.  She was involved in several committees and the building fund when she first found her niche in the “Gift Shop at Passavant.”  Nancie loved the opportunity to meet everyone and find that extra special gift they needed for whatever occasion they were celebrating.

Nancie took the opportunity to actually know what was important in other people’s lives.  She has many friends among the other volunteers, the Passavant staff, the cafeteria workers, the nurses, the aides, the maintenance staff, the drivers, her neighbors, and the many residents; including the mail man and Passavant’s Mail Gal too.

Nancie was preceded in death by one brother W. Alvin Rahiser of Evans City and one sister E. Gene Bayan of Lititz, PA.

Nancie will be greatly missed by her family and friends.  A celebration of Nancie’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 17th at 5:30PM at the Passavant Retirement Community Chapel in the main building. Arrangements are under the direction of McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc. and condolences are available at www.mcdonald-aeberli.com.
