Dear Sandy, Gene, and Denny,
I have a photo that your Mom gave me of my dad, your dad, and Ross Purvis when Lewie and Ross visited my Dad at our church flea market. I know the three of them were friends for a long time and shared many good stories. My sympathy to you all. Your Mom was a great lady and now she is with Lewie. May wonderful memories be with you.

June,
The story I remember about Lewie and your dad was the time they gave Harold some "chocolate covered ants" as "candy" and the laughs/fun they had with that.
Thanks for thoughts. There aren't many left from that "Greatest Generation" of Americans. I did not get his name, but the oldest visitor last week told me he was 90.

Sandy and Family,

So sorry to hear that Katy has passed! Every time I look out my front window at the lake, I think of your Mom and Dad and how they really got things started in our neighborhood. Thinking of Katy brings to mind her hats and her love of dancing. Please take some comfort in knowing that she was loved by many and will be missed.

Sandy, sorry to hear about your mother. She was well liked by members of the gun club, and always a pleasure to talk to. May God be with you .

What fun it was to visit with Katy and Lewis. (or Lewey!) Once I stopped and asked Katy what kind of shrubs were in front of their house. "They're so blue!" Katy laughed. Lewis goes out at night and spray paints them! When mom, Helen Anderson, died, Lewis was visiting Virginia and I while we were cleaning out! We came across an OOGA Horn. Very loud! Lewis asked and we gave it to him. Katy probably never forgave us ! Hello to Gene, my classmate. Sincerely, Gayle

Gayle,
Thank you for your comments about Katy and Lewie. Katy was surely one of the last of that "Greatest Generation" that Tom Brokaw wrote about. The things that generation of Davidsons and Werners accomplished with little money and an awful lot of work. Katy surely wanted to get to 100, but came up a little short; she danced 2 or 3 times a week with Sandy, until she fell in December, 2014 and sprained her ankle at the age of 96. We also continued to take her fishing in Canada until age 95. We have lots of positive memories of Katy and Lewie.
Those blue trees were a special trick with Dad. Chris and I live in Texas for seven years from 1972 to 1979. They came to visit one year and while I was working, without asking, he rented a spray gun and sprayed four bushes in my front yard "BLUE" and these trees quite an attraction!
I also have that OOGA horn that he got from you.
Good to hear from you for sure. Denny Burford came to the funeral home and we talked a lot about the "good ole days" in Mars. . He's the only one I see now when I go back to Mars. Except that I saw Sharon Lotzbire last year; she lives about 1/4 mile from my sister, Sandy, on Three Degree Road near the Mars Middle School.
Again, Thanks for your thoughts.
Gene

I am sorry about the lost of your dear loved one. May you find some comfort in the words found at Daniel 12:2 which says that many of those asleep in the dust of the earth will wake up.

Sandy and family,
So very sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I had just asked you about her a week or so ago. She was a great lady and loved by many. Every time I see a red hat or her beloved #7, I will think of her.
