Joseph Cherenko Obituary

Joseph Cherenko of Valencia, he was the beloved husband of Lillian Kotyk Cherenko for 55 years, passed peacefully unto the Lord on March 10, 2018 at the age of 85.

Born on December 27, 1932, he was the son of the late Paul and Rose Hulsin Cherenko.

Joe was a 1950 graduate of Ambridge High School and from Carnegie Tech in 1954 as a Chemical Engineer.  He had been employed by Callery Chemical and retired in 1988 from PPG Research in Harmarville, where he was a scientist in the lab.

Joe was an artist and did oil painting.  He was an amateur photographer and loved all kinds of music and made many cassette tapes, which he enjoyed in his later years.  He also had an avid interest in electronics.

Surviving are his wife, Lillian, his brother-in-law, Daniel Kotyk (Karen), grand nieces, Krissy Keegan (Frank) and Sydney and Alexis Kotyk, grand nephews, Daniel Kotyk (Tricia) and Colin, Brian, Conner and Brandon Keegan\, cousins, Joyce Sarchman and Gregg and Warren Winslow.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Steve and Mary Sedlitsky Kotyk, his brother-in-law, Charles and Dolores Kotyk Del Bene, and aunts and cousins.

Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc. 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Wednesday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  Services will follow at 3:00 PM at the funeral home, with Rev. Paul Cope, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the Humane Shelter of your choice, Good Samaritan Hospice, 134 Marwood Rd.
