John P. “Jack” Wachter Jr., of Valencia, formerly of Millville, died Wednesday morning at UPMC Passavant in McCandless.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA on June 10, 1933, he was the son of the late John and Cecilia Daneen Wachter.
Jack proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of the Civil War Club. Years ago, he was very involved in the Knights of Columbus.
He had been a member of Holy Sepulcher Church in Glade Mills.
Jack loved antique cars, trains, and his camp in Ohio.
Surviving are a son, John A. Wachter (Janet) of Butler; two daughters, Sharon L. Scanlon (Frank Pelly) and Lori L. Zeidler both of Valencia; a sister, Louise Fletcher of McCandless; his grandchildren, Joshua and Jacob (Jessica) Wachter, Robert and Joseph Scanlon and Jamie, Cody and Kayla Zeidler; and his great-grandchildren, L.J. and Jamison Wachter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy C. Tagmyer Wachter, who he married on September 12, 1959 and who died on September 23, 2010.
A memorial mass will be held on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. in Holy Sepulcher Church, 1304 E. Cruikshank Road, Butler, PA 16002, Fr. John Getsy officiating.
