John Edward Sauerland, age 29, of Ellwood City, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2017.

Born in McCandless Twp., PA on January 17, 1988, he was the son of David and Maureen Patton and the late Samuel B. McSwaney.

A graduate of Freedom High School, John had worked as a cook for Bravo.

Surviving are his parents, David and Maureen Patton of Ellwood City,  his son, John Richard Sauerland, his grandmothers, H. Eleanor McSwaney of Valencia and Renee Yates in New York, his grandfather, Robert Patton of Butler and his sisters,  Rachel Patton of Ross Twp., and Sara Patton of Monaca. Uncle of Rayna, Olivia and Logan Headley, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Samuel C. McSwaney and William D. Sauerland, and his grandmother, Diane Grossman.

Friends will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, Inc., 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, PA on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to his parents to assist them with expenses. Directions and condolences are available at www.mcdonald-aeberli.com.
